2. What should I do if TouchPal can't be loaded after installation? (or some installed languages didn't show up in the language list?)
(First, if you didn't soft reset your device after installing, please do it.)
This usually happens when Windows Mobile runs out of resource. ?If you installed TouchPal to [storage card], you need to know:
1. TouchPal may fail to be loaded on some devices if you install it to storage card.
2. If your device is in low power state, TouchPal may fail to be loaded from storage card.
First try will be uninstalling all 3-party SIPs and restart.
If no luck, please try to turn off all Today items on your desktop (You can go to Start -> Settings -> Today. Select "Windows default" in appearance tab and uncheck all items in other tab.), then restart.
If the problem still exist, please write to feedback@cootek.com and report the issue with your repro steps, phone model and other related info.
3. How can I input the numbers and symbols at the top of buttons?
4. Where is ENTER, TAB key? What if I need CTRL, ATL and SHIFT?
Swiping down on BACKSPACE key for ENTER.
Swiping left on SPACE key for TAB.
TouchPal provide out-of-box support for common used function key combinations like COPY, PASTE, SELECT ALL and UNDO. You can customize [My commands] list to support other function key combinations like "CTRL + ATL + DEL". Please refer to [My commands] section in [TouchPal v2 Quick Start].
5. How can I see the word in the input area while typing?
Go to help/option view and enable "display default word candidate inline". However, enabling this option may impact performance on some devices.
6. How can I switch between languages?
TouchPal Professional supports dynamic language switching. TouchPal Standard support multiple languages but doesn't support dynamic language switching.
In TouchPal Professional, you can install up to 4 language packs onto your device and run them side by side. You can switch to any language at any time by:
1. Press and slide down on "abc" tab to bring up language list.
2. Click a language you want to switch to.
7. How can I store my frequently used phrases like email address, password?
You can store them as into "my sentences" list. Password can be shown as "***" instead of plain text in "my sentences" list.
8. How can I precisely input letters near the edge (e.g. "q", "p"...)?
9. When should I consider using precise input mode?
10. Where can I find my customized word list? I don't want to lose my existing word list produced by TouchPal v1, what should I do?
You can find customized word list files at:
"[The storage root path you choose]\Program Files\TouchPal\Surfaces\"
You can edit them manually. Soft reset is needed to apply the changes you made.
If you still want to use the customized word list produced by TouchPal v1, you just need to find the file named engdict_usr.txt under "\Program Files\TouchPal\", rename it to be "eng_user_dic.txt" and copy it to "[The storage you choose]\Program Files\TouchPal\Surfaces\".
11. How can I input accent letters or special letters in my language?
With word prediction, TouchPal can automatically recognize accent and some special letters by corresponding letters. That means you can simply press "a" for "á", c for"ç", and TouchPal will get it right.
If you want to precisely input an accent letter, you may swipe down if they are on the bottom of a button; or swipe up and then down if they are on the top of a button.
